THIRD ECO AWARD

St James has been awarded our third Eco-Congregation award with high commendation. Since the last time we were awarded this prestigious award in 2009 we have had double glazing put in around our building to save on heat and energy, we have had Photo-Voltaic Panels put on our church roof to generate electricity, and we have becoming involved in the Transition movement, which aims to make local communities become more sustainable as economic entities and fostering renewed community spirit.  We aim to continue exploring this further as we believe to being part of God’s plan to renew creation and knowing the value, as a church, of community. We use eco friendly cleaning products, recycling facilities, have signs around the building encouraging people to turn off lights in rooms when they are not using them, we have had creation themed services and  bible studies. We have had our own herb garden and tomato patch in our tubs at the front of church.
